I really like this photo because at first glance the ladder is so subtle that you can almost not see it. Since it is made out of wood as well I like the connection it has with the rest of the forest. In your opinion, where would you guess this ladder is going to? Is it spiritual? Very interesting choice!
I think that the final destination of the ladder could be left up to the individual viewing the picture. I definitely don't think it's spititual because I would think a spiritual ladder would lead to something significant. In my opinion, the ladder could represent an individual person and without the surrounding trees (friends and family) the ladder would not have anything to lean on. That may be wayyyyy out there, but it's what I get out of it.
I think this is a very interesting concept. I really like the way it is incorporated into the nature around it...but it also has an interesting concept in that the ladder leads to nowhere. I would be curious to talk to the artist who created this and find out why, or what made him/her want to create a "ladder to nowhere".
